The news that the technology giant Meta expelled a Costa Rican public relations agency from Facebook for disseminating political content from false accounts during the electoral campaign, sparked strong criticism from communication professionals against the practices of the company Noelix Media, for consider them unethical.
Jorge Porras Cartín, owner of the agency, told La Nación on Thursday that "all advertising, communication and digital marketing agencies" use false accounts and pages, popularly known as "trolls", as part of electoral and corporate campaigns that their clients hire them.
"The communication agency or the communication professional who arrives and says that they do not have false accounts, or do not know what they are involved in or are lying," said Porras, who admitted that his company uses fictitious profiles in its campaigns.
